Georgian Help Sought for Possible Iran Strike
Although there has been no formal request by U.S. officials, it's reported that unofficial overtures have been made to the government of Georgia.
From JPost.com:
American officials have been quietly probing whether Georgia, situated just northwest of Iran, will be willing to allow Washington to use its military bases and airfields in the event of a military conflict with Teheran, The Jerusalem Post has been told.
The Americans have been putting out feelers, a high-ranking Georgian government foreign affairs official told the Post, in advance of a possible military strike to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear weapons capability.
Georgian officials expressed fear of civil unrest and possible harsh Iranian retaliation but, given their dependence on American aid and support, feel obligated to help the U.S. There's also the already-strained Georgian relationship with Russia to consider.
Considering the negatives, American forces attacking Iran from Georgia seems like a longshot to me but, even so, it's on the table. Also being considered is the use of airfields and bases in Azerbaijan, another close ally of the U.S. Officially, everybody everywhere is denying everything. However, despite the denials, Iran appears to be taking the situation quite seriously.

This drives home the point that Iran should take our position seriously; and other Middle Eastern countries as well. This is exactly why we have to continue our support of the War in Iraq for democracy. If we pull out now before our job is even complete, this will not set a good precedence for other countries to "take us seriously." We cannot be safe here in the United States until our work is done to bring democracy to the MIddle East and destroying the terrorists who hate the idea of that democracy.

Iran's looking for a confrontation with the western world - and the western world is looking for a patsy with muscle
to give it to them along with plausible deniability fro themselves.
I don't believe jack shit what comes out of the foreign western media.

I find your reproducing this to be highly offensive. However I did not find the NYT's 154 reproducitons of Piss Christ from 1989 - 2006 to be very offensive; it was just an exercise of "press freedom". The free press has to cover all the news. Not just the PC news.

gee Rod that seems like sort of a lot of reproductions of "piss christ" that is about 20 each year for 8 years or so. And the "free press" doesn't HAVE to do anything, which is why it is called a free press. They have only to print what they wish, and of course PROFIT is the main reason to publish anything. Brit Muslims Declare Victory in Cartoon War
From the
Telegraph (UK):
For the past two weeks, Patrick Sookhdeo has been canvassing the opinions of Muslim clerics in Britain on the row over the cartoons featuring images of Mohammed that were first published in Denmark and then reprinted in several other European countries.
"They think they have won the debate," he says with a sigh. "They believe that the British Government has capitulated to them, because it feared the consequences if it did not.
"The cartoons, you see, have not been published in this country, and the Government has been very critical of those countries in which they were published. To many of the Islamic clerics, that's a clear victory.
"It's confirmation of what they believe to be a familiar pattern: if spokesmen for British Muslims threaten what they call 'adverse consequences' - violence to the rest of us - then the British Government will cave in. I think it is a very dangerous precedent."
Guess what? They
have won, for now. Here, too, unless you can think of a major news outlet in this country that has published a Mohammed cartoon.
The Press is opposed to upsetting Muslim sensibilities, unless, of course, they have some juicy video of British soldiers grabbing young Iraqi rock-throwers or some old photos from Abu Ghraib.

Yanno, I could've cared less that the MSM didn't publish the pictures until a kind commenter reminded me that there is still a large number of Americans out there who don't have internet access.
So, I changed my mind. They are gutless cowards. Publish the cartoons, mediatards.

The troubles of Islam
By Mansoor Ijaz, MANSOOR IJAZ is an American Muslim of Pakistani ancestry.
An American Muslim of Pakistani ancestry thinks Islam's worst enemies are increasingly its own adherents.
...
The first truth is that most Muslim ideologues are hypocrites. What has Osama bin Laden done for the victims of the 2004 tsunami or the shattered families who lost everything in the Pakistani earthquake last year? He did not build one school, offer one loaf of bread or pay for one vaccination...

In my opinion, here's what should happen. Will we see it?...
"We at CBS have discussed showing these cartoons to you, our viewing public, so that you might make up your own minds as to the offensiveness. It is for reporters to report the news... ALL the news, and not to decide what you may, or may not be shown. While we understand that depictions of Mohammed are forbidden in Islam, we are, for now, a country not ruled by sharia law. For that reason, we ask our Muslim viewers to
look away as we now show the infamous cartoons of the Prophet..."
THAT would garner support even for the network that contaminated us with Dan Rather and Mary Mapes.

Fear is a stronger emotion than any other in the liberal lexicon. And they are scared of the radical Muslims, so there will be no cartoons on CBS or any other network for that matter.

I thought it was only 'forbidden' by the clerics for people to draw pictures of Muhammed, I don't believe it is referenced in the Quran, nor Hadiths. Apparently there are hundreds of drawings done by Iranians and other Shia Muslims as a sign of devotion.
Of course it is also forbidden in Christianity to pray to images of Mary, Jesus or the saints but that doesn't mean people start killing people or destroying property if they hear/see it.

Islam is probably the most hypocritical religious movement since pre-reformation Catholicism. It is still Medieval in thought and action. Where are the Muslim "Moderates" hiding? Why don't they "Take back" their religion? What Islam needs is a leader that can lead a Lutheran type of reformation of Islam. Just like Marty did in the 16th century. If this happens, I wonder if there are Jesuit-type elements in Islam that can lead the Islamic counter-reformation. Welcome to the 21th century Islam.

Cartoon Jihadis Attack US Embassy In Indonesia
From
MSNBC:
JAKARTA, Indonesia - Hundreds of Muslims protesting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad tried to storm the U.S. Embassy on Sunday, smashing the windows of a guard post but failing to push through the gates. Several people were injured.
Pakistani security forces, meanwhile, sealed off the capital of Islamabad to block a planned mass demonstration and fired tear gas and gunshots to chase off protesters. In Turkey, tens of thousands gathered in Istanbul chanting slogans against Denmark, Israel and the United States.
Talk about boneheaded ignorance. No, not the cartoon jihadis; I'm talking about the American mainstream media who thought they could appease these savages by refusing to print the Mohammed cartoons.

Remember the Blog Sabbath, to keep it Holy. Six days thou shalt blog, but one day a week is a sabbath unto the Lord of the Blogosphere.
Just a reminder to loyal minions that I do not blog on Sunday. I call it the 'Blog Sabbath'. I'd advise other bloggers to take a day off, too. A day spent away from a computer screen. A day to recharge your batteries. A day to reconnect with family and friends. A day to remind yourself that the most important things in life are the relationships you build, and not politics.

Iran Threatens Suicide Bomber Attacks
An Iranian group calling itself "Martyrdom Seekers" is threatening the US and the UK with mass
suicide bomb attacks against Coalition forces in Iraq if Iran's nuclear facilities are attacked. Though ostensibly unofficial, no group would be allowed to make such an announcement without the consent of Iran's government:
Mohammad Ali Samadi, spokesman for Esteshadion, or Martyrdom Seekers, boasted of having hundreds of potential bombers in his talk at a seminar on suicide-bombings tactics at Tehran's Khajeh Nasir University.
"With more than 1,000 trained martyrdom-seekers, we are ready to attack the American and British sensitive points if they attack Iran's nuclear facilities," Samadi said.
"If they strike, we have a lot of volunteers. Their (U.S. and British) sensitive places are quiet close to Iranian borders," Samadi said.
Samadi reviewed the history of suicide bombing as a weapon, praising it as the most effective Palestinian tactic in their confrontation with Israel.
They have "trained martyrdom seekers"?
"Here Ahmed, put this on, find a group of children, push this button."

More tough talk, but a threat none the less. It's a threat aimed at the US and British, but if they're smart, the Shia of Southern Iraq should take notice. If Iran's intent is to destabilise Southern Iraq to keep the US and British occupied, the Shia will be the ones bleeding and dying in the streets from the bombs their caring Iranian brothers have sent their way to achive their goals. As for suicide bombing being "the most effective Palestinian tactic", last time I checked they've been doing this for the last twenty odd years and Israel is still there, doing a hundred times better economically and socially than the Palestinians. I'd say that makes suicide bombing a strategic failure.

Unfortunately for these guys, they think they're discussing a tactic that hasn't been planned for.
The U.S predicted an Iranian destabilizing influence by proxy, using the Iraqi Shiite majority and they were right. From the Iran backed 'uprising' in Sadr city - to when advanced IED's were discovered with all the hallmarks of construction by the I.R.G.
I don't think even the newest Soldier in theater would be surprised by the idea that an attack in Iran would be followed by retaliation against the allied forces in Iraq.
I think we're getting down to it now, Iran is steering us towards a military confrontation, obviously they have made no concessions, but have instead purchased missile based air defense systems from Russia.
It's almost like they're ready for a showdown, so you have to ask -- are these beer muscles fueled by the knowledge they already possess a Nuclear weapon?

If suicide bombing is all they got, then they are in big trouble militarily. I would say that the US will be well prepared for whatever contingincy these sheetheads have in mind, or perhaps more accurately, out of their minds. Last time they had an internal argument with the muslims (just a few years ago) - it left apx 3000 dead from street fighting.
There is some serious bad blood there going back centuries.
An oddity for you -
The most successful best educated muslim communities in the world are found in India (and in the west). Go figure.

I'll say:
All Standard reference books agree that the name 'Hindu Kush' of the mountain range in Eastern Afganistan means 'Hindu Slaughter' or 'Hindu Killer'. History also reveals that until 1000 A.D. the area of Hindu Kush was a full part of Hindu cradle. More likely, the mountain range was deliberately named as 'Hindu Slaughter' by the Moslem conquerors, as a lesson to the future generations of Indians. However Indians in general, and Hindus in particular are completely oblivious to this tragic genocide. This article also looks into the reasons behind this ignorance.

Dave, the Hindu Kush got the name from all the Hindu captives that died in the crossing after they had been taken by muslim slave raiders. People taken suddenly from their homes and fields have little opportunity to dress for a trek in the Himalayas.

Where is the Christian outrage? Not one word....
Especially from Christians who push DIVESTMENT from Israel... These Christians do not give a rat's ass about freedom or persecuted people. This is why Hitler was so successful for so long. Christians do not give a crap, and Jews are so naive that they think everything will be ok in the end....real brilliance!
If Islam is not eradicated-entirely-Islam will eradicate everyone else.

Muslims, despite all the years they have been supposedly trying and despite billions in oil wealth have been unable to create ONE utopic islamic society. Turning dozens of islamic countries into one utopic islamic country is just not possible and all the blame lies with themselves.

Graeme, I been preaching about that same subject ever since I saw the photos Michael Totten took in Kurdistan over the past few days. The Kurdish leaders have a vision for their people, a vision to make things better and become a part of the civilized world.
And there is no reason the Arabs could not have a paradise in the Middle East. They have the money, the people, but not the mental capacity. Why?
It is because of radical Islam. The religion, as it is now being practiced in the ME, is full of hate and bile spewed at a small nation insignificant in comparison to the Arab nations. Dictators, poverty, hate and ignorance reign supreme. Paradise lost, indeed!

Taliban Supporters Behind New York Rally Against Muhammed Cartoons
I have already
posted about the fact that the Islamic Thinkers Society was behind the New York rally in front of the Danish embassy. This is the same group that
burned the American flag, celebrated 9/11, and warned that 'next time, we will get all of NYC.' Here is an admission from the group that they a) organized the rally to condemn the Muhammed cartoon b) share the same goals as al Qaeda and the Taliban--the revival of the Caliphate, institution of sharia (Islamic) law, the building of a utopian Islamic society, and the domination of the world by Muslims
Here is a screenshot of the announcement from their webpage. [click to zoom]

And a statement of their goals:
Our objective is to resume the Islamic way of life to which will fulfill the purpose of the aim. Our objective is to bring back the apparatus that was destroyed in 1924 i.e. Khilafah. Indeed it was the Khilafah that united the Muslim Ummah under one flag, one land, one border, and one leader. It was the Khilafah which served as the appartus to make sure that Tawheed manifested in all ascpect in the Muslim Ummah's affairs. Surely, anyone who accepts any other system than Allah's Shari'ah is worshipping the one who has put his laws in place of the laws of Allah. This is a major form of shirk and anyone who commits a major shirk has left Islam....
Let me remind you that the penalty for leaving Islam, especially under their version of sharia, is death. More:
This is what we, as part of Islamic Thinkers Society strive for. To create the ideal Islamic society, where the furqan(criterion) for the individuals as well as the rulers will be the Qur'an & Sunnah and the Qur'an & Sunnah only. As always, our struggle is intellectual & political. To us, this is a matter of life & death. A matter of jannah & jahannam. It requires seriousness, dedication, & sabr.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have found the American Taliban, and it is operating openly in New York City!
According to their own website, they are 'less than a handful of people'. Here is a photo of the rally by 'less than a handful of people'. I hope the FBI is keeping close tabs on this group of extremists. The MSM certainly isn't.

Do they really support terrorism? YES!
From their forum rules:
ABSOLUTELELY NO RIDICULING OF THE MUJAHIDEEN, THE SCHOLARS OF HAQQ, & THE SINCERE DA'WAH CARRIERS OF ISLAM.
Yup, they're just upset over the Muhammed cartoons.

Oh, and what do we have hear? It appears that The Jawa Report has been brought to the attention of this little band of terror supporters. The referring url takes us back to a discussion forum run by the Islamic Thinkers Society. I wonder what I could have said that would piss them off?

Did I mention they have an e-mail? info@IslamicThinkers.com

Oh I'm sorry hondo, I didn't realize that being passionate about the survival of civilization was a negative trait, especially since it got me through a war and several years of cold war and "peacetime" service, and will see me through our coming difficulties. Don't get confused, just because I hate muslims, liberals, and cowards doesn't mean that my emotions control me, I've read Sun Tzu too, ya know.
And you can take your opinion of my soldiering skills and shove them up your ass while you're at it, because you don't know shit about me, and you don't seem to have the balls for this fight, so stay home and let the men handle it if you can't take it.

I spent a sticky month or so in Oklahoma as a guest of the US Army. It was an interesting chapter of my life and tormenting my army brothers kept the boredom at bay. Two dozen of us and hundreds of them = a win win situation, if ever there was one. I don't know what the Gunny had done to be permanently attached to that assignment, never saw that red eyed basturd smile once. He could get a decent workout just by hoisting his arm to scratch his forehead, he had so many hash marks. Our first day there, filed off the bus and standing there formed up, getting our asses ate out. Just like home I thought to myself. We hadn't even done anything..... yet! Breathing was off limits, unless and until.....blah, blah, blah! ......and Lawton! That's a city? Country boys like me don't belong in places like that.

Remember that it is not just terrorism and hate that these people bring. They bring their slaves, their honor killings, their misogyny, and their pedophilia that their beloved prophet extolled. They want to change the world into their culture. They make the Aryan Nations and the KKK look like a ladies quilting club. Americans systematically run those hate groups out of town, why canÂ’t we do it with these sickos? IÂ’ll tell you why: because they dress different and speak a different language and most Americans donÂ’t understand their hate. Thank God for the net.

I disagree - since I believe all this cartoon shit is just a giant global islamist pep rally to fire them up for their true intended targets .... other muslims and muslims back home.
Maybe send sympathy cards to the moderates, secularists and fencesitters in the muslim world (there are indeed millions of them!). Mod mislims - look in the mirror - your the goal - the target - your fucked! - and you haven't given me any reason to give a damn!

My personal understanding of the situation has always been when asking again and agian why an entire country who lives in fear of their gov't and authority figures, has not been able to fight them off in 28 years was as simple as the fact they had nothing like the 2nd amendment, the populace I mean. Have never discussed this thought with anybody else , always wondered if that's all it boiled down to. I mean it really is terrorism , I guess every nation exports that which they've perfected at their home land..
thanks.

I'll Call Your Fatwa, and Raise you $1 Milllion
A Pakistani Muslim cleric,
Mohammed Yousef Qureshi, has issued a fatwa and offered up to $1 million to any one of the few misunderstanders of jihad who will kill Danish cartoonists involved in drawing images of Muhammed. Filthy Allah ups the ante and
offers $2 million for the first guy to kill Qureshi. I guess two can play at that game? Unfortunately, only one of them is kidding.

Alec Baldwin Reaffirms His Status...
...As An Imbecile
I love it when certain Hollywood types fly into snits and
babble witlessly in public:
So, I suppose the question is...what kind of civil trial will we see, or not see, between Cheney and Whittington? Whittington is certainly no stranger to a court room and to civil litigation. Will Cheney pay him off, preemptively? Will they go to court? I would imagine if a guy with a few beers in him shoots you in the face on a hunting trip, how could you turn down that opportunity?
Let's say there's a civil lawsuit filed...by the Veep against Alec and Arianna for malicious libel. But let's not interrupt Alec while he's busy showing his ass:

Kathy, you know nothing about my education, though it didn't include acting classes, so you got me there, I suppose. That means my options for becoming a parasitical pinhead who has a habit of making empty threats to leave the country if my candidate doesn't win are virtually nil. I will just have to live with that pain.
On the other hand, I'm not stupid enough to expect criminal actions to come out of a hypothetical civil suit, as Baldwin apparently is, and my command of the English language is such that I would never call an elected American official a "terrorist", regardless of which party he or she might represent. Baldwin's whining just has too much of the mincing nancy boy for my taste. And I have a really low tolerance for mincing nancy boys.
And finally, Kathy, no matter how much you pander to Alec, he is not going to suddenly notice you and whisk you away for a romantic interlude in the Caribbean.
